## CSV

A CSV file is a comma-separated value file that allows data to be saved in a structured table format.

<span style="color: #0d0d0d">Traditionally, CSV templates take the form of a structured text file</span> containing information separated by commas.

<span style="color: #0d0d0d">CSV files are smaller and simpler to implement and parse. They are processed by many software applications.</span>

## CSV Templates in Xporter

>
> In the *Output formats* field, add the CSV option (Figure 1 - 2).
>
> You can also define CSV as the default format of the template (Figure 1 - 3). This is not mandatory, though. Your template will be exported as CSV as long as you have it defined in the *Output formats* field (Figure 1 - 2)
>
> > Macro (rw-step)
>
> Once you're finished, click the *Update* button (Figure 1 - 4).

## Creating CSV Templates

> To create a CSV template, add [mappings](https://docs.getxporter.app/space/XPORTERCLOUD/558575) the same way you do with [Excel templates](https://docs.getxporter.app/space/XPORTERCLOUD/558471).
>
> ![Figure 1 - Mappings](media://7c978360-8115-427a-96db-c28abe3539a3)
>
> > Macro (rw-step)
>
> After creating the template, save it with a CSV extension. You'll get the corresponding CSV report (Figure 2).
>

>
> > Macro (rw-step)
>
> You may want to export multiple issues, without reproducing some sections of the template. This can be useful if you want to export multiple issues and place the issues of a specific issue type (e.g., story) in a section of the template.
>
> As you can see above, `${Summary} `<span style="color: #000000">(Figure 1 - 2)</span>, `${Key}` (Figure 1 - 1) and `${Status}` (Figure 1 - 3) are mappings used on Microsoft Word templates. However, <span style="color: #0d0d0d">Xporter for Jira Cloud allows you to export fields currently defined in your Jira instance.</span>
