## Introduction

Currently, Microsoft Word Charts isn't supported by [Xporter](https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/891368/xporter-export-issues-from-jira?tab=overview&hosting=cloud) for Jira Cloud due to third-party limitations.

To export charts in a Microsoft Word template, you need to use [object linking and embedding](https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/office/linked-objects-and-embedded-objects-0bf81db2-8aa3-4148-be4a-c8b6e55e0d7c) Microsoft Excel Chart. This chart can be inserted using the Excel top menu: **Insert **->** Object **->** Microsoft Excel Chart**.

This will insert an embedded Excel book in your document, where the first sheet is a chart and the second sheet contains its data.

You can export number fields from Jira to this second sheet to populate the chart. Learn how to from the examples below.

## Example 1

> Macro (rw-ui-steps-macro)
>
> > Macro (rw-step)
>
> Export three number custom fields (Number A: Figure 1 - 1), (NumberB: Figure 1 - 2), (NumberC: Figure 1 - 3) from a single issue and compare them in a chart.
>
> > Macro (rw-step)
>
> After inserting the Microsoft Excel Chart, change the chart data as shown in Figure 1.
>
> ![Figure 1 - Example 1](media://950204b1-1291-4c46-aea8-f455a9ba2f0e)
>
> > ℹ️ Go to *Hidden and Empty Cells* (Figure 1 - 4) and change the *Show empty cells as *option to "Zero". This will safeguard issues with no value defined on the fields.

## Example 2

> Macro (rw-ui-steps-macro)
>
> > Macro (rw-step)
>
> Export some issues and their information.
>
> > Macro (rw-step)
>
>  At the end of the report, present a chart with the sum of the number of custom fields.
>
> > Macro (rw-step)
>
> Start by initializing a variable to each series on the chart. Using a `for issues` block (Figure 2 - 1), <span style="color: #0d0d0d">export all desired issue information and add the issue values to the previously defined variables.</span>

>
> At the end of the document, add a chart as depicted in [Example 1](https://docs.getxporter.app/space/XPORTERCLOUD/460426/Exporting+Charts+on+Microsoft+Word+Templates#Example-1), but with the newly defined variables (Figure 3 - 1).

## Example 3

> Macro (rw-ui-steps-macro)
>
> > Macro (rw-step)
>
> Use a Microsoft Excel Chart inside an iteration. You can export information about an issue, iterate all its linked issues or subtasks, and present a chart for each iteration (Figure 4).

> The context passed to the chart has the same logic as in all iterations (Figure 5).

> By using a [Set function](https://docs.getxporter.app/space/XPORTERCLOUD/526934/Functions#Set-Function) as depicted in [Example 2](https://docs.getxporter.app/space/XPORTERCLOUD/460426/Exporting+Charts+on+Microsoft+Word+Templates#Example-2), you can use a final chart to compare the totals of links with the totals of subtasks.

## Example 4

> Macro (rw-ui-steps-macro)
>
> > Macro (rw-step)
>
> You can pass all issues' context to a Microsoft Excel Chart using a `for issues` block inside its data sheet (Figure 6 - 1).

>
> To construct this type of chart (with the `for issues` block), you need to [set its series and category values manually](https://docs.getxporter.app/space/XPORTERCLOUD/462070).
