## Introduction

[Xporter](https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/891368/xporter-export-issues-from-jira?tab=installation&hosting=datacenter) provides a way to backup and/or restore all settings, including:

- [Global settings](https://docs.getxporter.app/space/XPORTER/1409516).
- Installed [Templates](https://docs.getxporter.app/space/XPORTER/1409467) (admin, project, and profile templates).
- [Permission Schemes](https://docs.getxporter.app/space/XPORTER/1409475).
- [Scheduled Reports](https://docs.getxporter.app/space/XPORTER/1409498).
- [File Servers](https://docs.getxporter.app/space/XPORTER/1409479).

## Operations

### Exporting

The Export and Import feature (Figure 2) allows you to backup and also restore the Xporter settings (Figure 2 - 2).

The backup can be used to move Xporter between different databases if required, as well as creating a backup that can be used if something goes wrong.

To create an Xporter backup, specify a backup name and click *Backup *(Figure 2 - 3). This will create a ZIP file in the Jira export folder, containing a JSON file with all database settings and a folder with the installed Templates.

### Importing

To import the previously created backup, add the file name (Figure 2 - 5) to the Import section and click *Restore *(Figure 2 - 6).

To perform an Xporter restore, the backup file must be placed in the Jira import folder, and you must specify the correct file name. After that, all current Xporter content will be wiped out and replaced with the content from the ZIP backup file.
